Appointment of New Directors

Globe Metals & Mining Limited (ASX: GBE) (Globe or the Company ) wishes to advise that the Company has appointed Mr Michael Choi OAM JP and Mr Michael Barrett as Independent Non-Executive directors of the Company, effective 17 December 2021. Mr Choi will Chair the Company’s newly established Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee while Mr Barrett will be a member of the ESG Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee.

Mr Choi is a former member of parliament of Queensland and held the position of Parliamentary Secretary (assisting on ministerial matters) with portfolios including natural resources, mines and energy, trade as well as multicultural affairs. He was the first Asian-Australian elected to Queensland parliament. In his career, Mr Choi was recognized with multiple awards, including the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), Lord Mayor’s Business Award among others. Mr Choi has served as Honorary Ambassador for Brisbane city, fostering ties between Brisbane and Asia Pacific countries, as well as chairing the Sister Cities Committee with the Chinese city of Shenzhen. He was the former chair of the Queensland Small Business Council. Mr Choi’s experience in mining includes policy setting, regulations, negotiation with authorities, project assessment, feasibility, CAPEX, all acquired in his Assistant Minister role in the Queensland Government with mines and energy portfolios.

Graduated from the University of Queensland, Mr Choi is a professional chartered engineer with extensive experience in project management, construction, and trade development. With his extensive background and skills in community engagement, cross cultural communication, relationship management and negotiations with governmental agencies, Mr Choi is keen to lead the Company’s ESG efforts and cross-border governmental relationships. Mr Choi resides in Brisbane, Queensland.

Mr Barrett is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ international experience in strategy, capital markets, investor relations, and risk management across the energy and resources industries. Mr. Barrett held senior mining sector roles in Western Australia, including with Rio Tinto Iron Ore and WMC Resources Ltd before he took the position of Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto’s US energy business in Wyoming and Denver USA from 2004 to 2015. He led Rio Tinto’s divestment and IPO of the business as Cloud Peak Energy on the New York Stock Exchange and continued to serve as CFO of the listed company. Since 2015, Mr Barrett spent two years as National Lead Partner for Deloitte's Risk Advisory Energy and Resources practice. He specialised in Board Advisory and Risk Management for many of the largest mining and energy and resources companies nationally. Subsequently, Mr Barrett established his own consulting business, helping develop smaller businesses across the energy and resources industry. Most recently, Mr Barrett acted for Garnet International Group, including completing feasibility studies, multiple financing rounds, and off-take agreements as it sought to develop its Balline Garnet Project.

Mr Barrett is a Graduate of the AICD and is the Lead Independent, non-executive director and Chair of the Audit Committee with Toronto Stock Exchange listed Novo Resources Corp; and a non-executive director of ASX-listed Pearl Global Ltd. Mr Barrett resides in Perth, Western Australia.

Globe also announces that Mr Bill Hayden has advised the Company of his resignation from the Board of GBE with effect on 31 December 2021, choosing not to stand for re-election at the Company’s rescheduled Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held on 31 January 2022.

Consequently, Resolution 4 in the Company’s AGM Notice of Meeting dated 20 October 2021, will be withdrawn from the agenda. Updates to the Notice of Annual General Meeting will be provided in advance of the rescheduled AGM.

This announcement was approved by the Board of the Company.
