ASX ANNOUNCEMENT January 31st, 2005

GTG Grants License to Australian Genome Research Facility.

Genetic Technologies Limited (ASX: GTG, US OTC: GNTLY)) is pleased to report it has granted a license to the non-coding patents to the Australian Genome Research Facility Limited (AGRF).

This is the sixth license to the non-coding patents granted in Australia. Other licenses have been issued to Genetic Solutions in Brisbane, University of Sydney, CY O'Connor Erade Village in Perth, University of Technology in Sydney, and Bionomics in Adelaide. Outside Australia, licenses have been issued to biotechnology companies or research institutes in USA, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Sweden.

The license granted to AGRF is a commercial license. The precise terms are covered by confidentiality, but we can disclose that part of the consideration will be paid to GTG in cash and part will be paid "in-kind" - in the form of services which GTG will be able to access from AGRF's extensive facilities for genetic analysis.

AGRF was established in 1997 as part of the Commonwealth Government's Major National Research Facility Program and provides research groups and other organizations with state of the art collection of molecular genetic information covering large-scale DNA sequencing, genotyping, microarraying, and other resources for the genetic and physical mapping of chromosomes, mutation detection, and associated bioinformatics analysis.

GTG and AGRF both seek to ensure that genetic research and development in Australia continues to generate new applications to benefit Australia and the wider community.
