Further Information re BRCA Testing
On July 11[th] , 2008, Genetic Technologies Limited (ASX: GTG; NASDAQ: GENE) announced that it had made a commercial decision to enforce the rights granted to it under an exclusive license from Myriad Genetics Inc. to use Myriad’s patents to perform diagnostic testing of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes in Australia and New Zealand.
The Company’s founder and current Director, Dr. Mervyn Jacobson, has previously stated that he was unhappy with this decision as he believes GTG should continue to allow other laboratories in Australia to freely perform the BRCA testing.
GTG wishes to advise that its new Board of Directors, which largely replaced the previous Board at the Company’s recent Annual General Meeting held on November 19[th] , 2008, is now undertaking a formal review of the recent decision by GTG to enforce its BRCA testing rights. It is envisaged that this review process will be completed at the meeting of Directors to be held on December 1[st] , 2008.
