ASX Announcement
Australian Infrastructure Fund (AIX)
30 April 2010
Impressive passenger growth continues for AIX’s Australian airports
AIX today announced passenger numbers for its Australian airports for the quarter ended 31 March 2010.
AIX’s Australian airports continued their impressive growth in passenger numbers, both for the quarter and the financial year to date. The increase in international passengers has been a particular highlight, with double-digit passenger growth experienced through the international terminals of each of AIX’s Australian airports.
Total growth in passenger numbers for the quarter and for the financial year to March, compared to total passenger numbers for the prior corresponding period (pcp), was as follows:
| Growth on pcp (%) Marchquarter |
Growth on pcp (%) Financial YTD |
|
|---|---|---|
| Perth Airport | 8.3 | 7.1 |
| APAC | 7.1 | 4.8 |
| Queensland Airports Limited | 11.1 | 9.6 |
| NT Airports | 12.8 | 7.8 |
| SydneyAirport | 9.4 | 5.8 |
| AIX weightedgrowth | 9.2 | 7.2 |
When weighted by AIX’s interest, the airports achieved total passenger growth of 9.2 percent for the quarter ended 31 March 2010 compared to pcp. For the nine months to 31 March 2010, these airports achieved passenger growth of 7.2 percent compared to pcp, when weighted by AIX’s interest.
AIX Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Pollock, said: “AIX’s Australian airports continued their impressive performance in the March quarter, with the rate of passenger growth outpacing both the prior quarter and the pcp. Strengthening demand from both leisure and business travellers, together with greater retail and property revenues, have contributed to the increasing value of the AIX portfolio.”
The Australian airports represent 79.0 percent of the AIX portfolio by value.
Detailed passenger growth statistics are attached.
