ASX Announcement
Australian Infrastructure Fund (AIX)
25 October 2010
Strong international passenger numbers fuel continued growth for AIX
Australian Infrastructure Fund (AIX) today reported that its Australian airports achieved strong passenger growth for the quarter ended 30 September 2010 – including a double-digit jump in AIX-weighted international passenger numbers.
During the September quarter, AIX’s Australian airports, which comprise 81.7 per cent of the portfolio by value, recorded AIX-weighted passenger growth of 9.9 per cent compared with the prior corresponding period (pcp). During the period, domestic passenger numbers across AIX’s Australian airports increased 9.5 per cent on pcp, while international passenger numbers surged 13.5 per cent on pcp.
AIX Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Pollock, said, “Passenger growth is fundamental to the ongoing success of any airport and the Australian airports in AIX’s portfolio have continued to outperform long-term historical averages.
“Continued passenger growth, along with planned expansion projects at assets in the portfolio, is expected to drive further earnings and valuation upside for AIX.”
