Founding Managing Director Announces Retirement

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Three-month notice period to be fulfilled as global search for new Chief Executive Officer commences

  • Marks end of an esteemed career as a qualified mining engineer and company executive for more than 35 years

First Graphene Limited (“ASX:FGR” or “the Company”) advises that Managing Director Craig McGuckin has given the Board three months’ notice of his intention to retire.

Mr McGuckin is a founding director of FGR and has overseen the construction of the world’s largest chemical exfoliation graphene manufacturing facility in Henderson, Western Australia.

Since opening in November 2017, the facility has been developed into the largest manufacturing plant producing commercial volumes of graphene across multiple applications and industries.

FGR Chairman Warwick Grigor thanked Mr McGuckin for his innovation, vision and leadership which has contributed to establishing the Company as the frontrunner in the emerging global graphene industry.

Mr Grigor said Mr McGuckin had led the Company towards a number of significant achievements, including:

  • Securing patents to protect and establish FGR’s growing IP portfolio

  • Obtaining government approval from AICIS (formerly NICNAS), FGR still being the only approved company in Australia

  • Establishing a European base for First Graphene at the University of Manchester.

  • Identifying the VFD as a method by which green graphene oxide could be created and pursuing this with Flinders University

  • Initiating collaboration with the University of Adelaide to advance the Company’s fireretardant coating technology and work on cement and concrete applications

“Craig has had a dual focus to his role, both as the leader of First Graphene, which he’s fulfilled with great innovation and professionalism, and also as a key player globally for helping to establish the commercial viability of the graphene industry,” Mr Grigor said.

The Company has commenced its international search for a new Chief Executive Officer to recruit a candidate who will successfully lead the company through its next phase of growth.
