APPOINTMENT OF NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

Adelaide-based minerals explorer Monax Mining Limited (ASX: MOX) is pleased to advise the appointment of Mr Gary Ferris to the position of Managing Director of the Company, effective 1 September 2009. Mr Ferris is a former Managing Director of InterMet Resources Limited in Adelaide and recently headed PepinNini Minerals Limited’s Queensland exploration program. Mr Ferris takes over the helm of Monax from current Managing Director Mr Michael Schwarz who resigned from the Board effective 31 August 2009.

Mr Ferris is a geologist with more than 18 years experience in exploration and management and holds an Honours Degree in Geology from the University of Adelaide and a Masters Degree from the Centre for Ore Deposits and Exploration Studies, University of Tasmania. He is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Mr Ferris’s addition to Monax’s management team will bring extensive experience in adding to the value of Monax’s asset base and a fresh approach in prioritising real returns for the Company and its shareholders.

Monax controls a significant portfolio of mature exploration projects which will be the focus of the Company in the execution of strategic alliances and joint venture opportunities and which will provide a sound base for the development of a new set of projects across the continent to maximise value for Monax shareholders.
