Covata Advances Key-as-a-Service™

SYDNEY – 14 June, 2016 Covata Limited (ASX: CVT) (Covata or the Company) provides market update on KaaS™ product development

• Customer engagement for KaaS™ now underway with previously advised Cisco re-structuring complete

• Covata to launch ‘Private Cloud KaaS’ for Cisco by the end of Q1FY17 ahead of schedule

 Covata key executive hire Mr Pavan Singh

As part of the development of its Private Cloud KaaS for Cisco program the Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Pavan Singh, an ex-Cisco executive. Mr Singh will report directly to Covata CEO Trent Telford and spearhead KaaS™ product development, marketing and direct customer engagement.

Pavan has over 15 year’s experience in the technology industry and, in the six years prior to joining Covata, held numerous leadership roles in Cisco including marketing strategy, business incubation and most recently a senior IoT solutions role.

Pavan is fully engaged in his role and involved in preliminary customer meetings with Cisco in Europe this week.

In the Company’s last quarterly business update, the CEO Trent Telford relayed that the re-structuring at Cisco was largely complete and that business should start to evolve in the near term. Mr. Telford says of this update, “The Company is making notable progress with Cisco including qualification of new pipeline and opportunities. Pavan knows the hallways and has the relationships with leaders inside Cisco, relevant to Covata. It is a very large organisation and we believe there are numerous opportunities available to the Company in new areas of Cisco’s SaaS, IoT and digital transformation business arms. A strong balance sheet, underpinned by the recent capital raise of $13.2m* (plus cash on hand at 31 March of $7.7m), is an important precursor for growth, providing partners and customers with long term confidence.”

To coincide with this momentum, the Company is pleased to advise that the first version of KaaS, a ‘Private Cloud KaaS’, will be available for the Cisco SXP Platform and customer Proof of Concepts in late Q1FY17. This extends the ‘Covata Platform’ to include a new SDK (Software Development Kit), allowing SXP and other services to connect directly to one or more instances of the Covata KaaS Platform deployed inside a Cisco private cloud.

Cisco Intercloud, (Cisco’s global Infrastructure as a Service Platform) has partnered with T-Systems in Europe. Through Covata’s partnership with T-Systems, Safe Share was successfully deployed on this environment in April. This gives the Company valuable insights and experience with the Cisco Intercloud infrastructure, which will be leveraged when deploying Private Cloud KaaS to for SXP.

The scheduled Q1FY17 release has been fast-tracked to allow Cisco to integrate and demonstrate KaaS to its customers and partners. This is ahead of the public cloud launch to the development community later in the year. KaaS engineering and product commercialisation is being jointly driven out of Sydney and San Francisco.
