ESI WINS NEW CONTRACT IN VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
Environmental Solutions International (ESI) has been awarded the contract for the supply. installation and overall commissioning of process equipment and control systems, for a new 5.7 ML/d wastewater treatment plant for Barwon Water at Colac, Victoria. ESI completed the process design, under an earlier consultancy arrangement with Barwon Water. The design of the new facility is based on ESI's successful SBR technology.
ESI will also be responsible for the project management of the installation of other mechanical equipment and electrical works, including pumps, inlet screen, grit removal system, effluent UV disinfection and belt filter press for solids dewatering at the new plant.
The capital value of this equipment and technology to be supplied by ESI is of the order of \$2.6 million.
ESI Managing Director, Denis Glennon AO said: "Because 80% of the organic load to the existing plant is from meat processing and dairy industries, the new treatment facility has been designed by ESI to treat an organic load equivalent to that of a plant suitable for treating sewage from approximately 80,000 people. It is a substantial size treatment facility that will underpin further development in the town of Colac."
"The final effluent will be of a very high quality allowing it to be discharged into nearby Lake Colac. The effluent is also suitable for recycling as an agricultural water supply in the district."
"This particular application of ESI's SBR process shows how flexible it can be to economically co-treat a variety of sewage and industrial waste streams, yet produce the highest quality of treated effluent, suitable for beneficial re-use. The innovative contract delivery mechanism, developed in alliance with the client, ensures the presence of key economic drivers to deliver "best for project" outcomes for the community.
