Emmerson Resources reclaims 100% of Tennant Creek assets
Emmerson Resources Ltd (ASX:ERM) is pleased to announce it has regained a 100% position over its 2,772 sq km package of highly prospective mining and exploration tenements covering the Tennant Creek Mineral Field (TCMF) in the Northern Territory, following the withdrawal of Inova Resources Ltd from the TCMF Joint Venture.
Emmerson now holds sole control of its Tennant Creek package which encompasses virtually the entire TCMF, Australia’s highest grade gold province, where it has made two significant copper/gold discoveries in its sole funded ground – called Goanna and Monitor.
Inova Resources Ltd (formerly Ivanhoe Australia Ltd) has opted to focus on its Queensland copper and gold assets after partnering with Emmerson in the TCMF for over four years and supporting the application of highly successful new exploration techniques.
Emmerson managing director, Rob Bills, said, “Inova/Ivanhoe has been a fantastic partner for a number of years, helping to create very significant new value for Emmerson shareholders. They have worked with us and made a significant investment in valuable, grassroots exploration. This provides Emmerson with a wonderful platform from which to launch a new phase of exploration based on new insights from this work, which we are confident will lead to further discoveries.
“Very strong interest is already being shown in our Tennant Creek exploration assets by potential new partners. We believe the withdrawal of Inova clears the way to realising the full value of our copper and gold resources and discoveries through removal of all rights and clawbacks, plus opens the way for new investment in the larger TCMF.”
Exploration of the TCMF by Emmerson has continued despite the varying ownership issues of our Joint Venture partner. Inova has now relinquished all equity interests in Emmerson’s Tennant Creek leases and revoked all clawback arrangements, leaving the entire exploration and mining lease package unencumbered and owned 100% by Emmerson (see Figure 1 for further information on the now 100% Emmerson owned TCMF). Inova Resources remains an important stakeholder, maintaining its 8.66% share equity in Emmerson Resources.
Emmerson is now in a very strong position to capitalise on the new insights and understanding that has been generated as a direct benefit of the JV – all data and intellectual property will remain with Emmerson. Importantly the project has been significantly de-risked with the establishment of new exploration models and search technologies, as evidenced by two significant new copper/gold discoveries, Goanna and Monitor that were blind to previous exploration methods.
A maiden resource estimate for the Goanna discovery and an updated resource, based on drilling late last year at the nearby Orlando project, are expected to be finalised shortly.

About Tennant Creek and Emmerson Resources
The Tennant Creek Mineral Field (TCMF) is one of Australia’s most prolific gold-copper districts producing over 5.5 Mozs of gold and 470,000 tonnes of copper from a variety of deposits including Gecko, Orlando, Warrego, White Devil, Chariot and Golden Forty, all of which are within Emmerson Resources’ (ASX: ERM) portfolio.
Emmerson holds 2,772 sq km of ground in the TCMF, owns the only gold mill in the region and has a substantial geological database plus extensive infrastructure and equipment. Emmerson controls 95% of the highly prospective TCMF where only 8% of the historical drilling has penetrated below 150m.
Emmerson is using a new approach to exploration such as the airborne HeliTEM geophysical detection technology, which in late 2011 resulted in two high-grade discoveries, Goanna and Monitor. These discoveries represent a new style of mineralisation undetected by previous explorers. Both discoveries are close to the historic Gecko underground mine development.
Emmerson continues to build and upgrade its resource inventory ahead of an eventual start of production. A maiden resource for Emmerson’s new Goanna discovery plus a revised resource for the Orlando deposit are close to finalisation. In addition, Emmerson has been working on a revised resource estimate and drill program at the high grade Chariot deposit.
Competency Statement - The information in this report relating to Exploration Results is based on information compiled by Mr Steve Russell who is a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and has sufficient exploration experience which is relevant to the style of mineralisation under consideration to qualify as a Competent Person as defined in the 2004 Edition of the ‘Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves’. Mr Russell is a full time employee of Emmerson Resources Ltd. Mr Russell consents to the inclusion in the report of the matters based on his information in the form and context in which it appears (Figure 1).
