$7m Exploration Program Commenced at Tennant Creek

Highlights

• The first meeting of the Exploration Management Committee constituted by Ivanhoe and Emmerson has met and decided upon an aggressive exploration budget of $7million for the remainder of this calendar year.

• Ivanhoe Australia as part of their $18m farm-in will fund 100% of this exploration spend.

• Emmerson Resources is managing the exploration on behalf of the Joint Venture partners.

• Reverse Circulation drilling has commenced at the Troika prospect and will then advance to a number of targets at the Trinity area.

• Additional diamond drill rig to commence in August as part of the ramp up of exploration activities.

Emmerson Resources Limited (ASX: ERM – “Emmerson”) is pleased to report that Ivanhoe Australia have approved a $7m exploration program as part of its $18m farm-in obligation to Emmerson Resources in the Tennant Creek Mineral Field. This expenditure constitutes a large increase on that previously announced and is commensurate with increasing geophysical and drilling activities.

Emmerson, the operator of the farm-in phase has generated a high quality portfolio of mostly undercover greenfields projects which will now be systematically tested as part this farm-in and JV with Ivanhoe. The exploration program is focussed on unlocking the next generation of iron-oxide gold – copper deposits through drill testing a number of exciting undercover targets that were generated from Emmerson’s investment in new prediction and detection technology (figure1).

The program is currently focussed on the Troika prospect and will then move to the larger Trinity area (figure 2). It is anticipated that approximately 30,000m of drilling will be undertaken over the Tennant Creek Mineral Field during the 2009 field season.
