OPEL joint venture signs network funding deed
OPEL joint venture signs network funding deed
Futuris announce that the OPEL Networks (OPEL) joint venture, has signed the funding agreement with the Australian Government for the OPEL rural and regional wholesale broadband network.
As announced to the ASX on 18 June 2007, OPEL has been selected for Australian Government funding of $958 million to build the network (being $600 million under the Broadband Connect program, supplemented by a further $358 million in further funding).
OPEL will be eligible to be paid the agreed funding once certain specified conditions are satisfied, including Australian Government approval of commercial agreements between Elders and Optus and satisfactory completion of further network planning.
OPEL is a 50:50 joint venture between Optus Networks Pty Limited (Optus – a wholly owned subsidiary of SingTel) and Elders (a wholly owned subsidiary of Futuris).
