Data[#] 3 reports another ‘best ever’ result

Full year dividends increase 28% to 46 cents on the back of 27% growth in earnings per share

BRISBANE, Monday 25[th] August 2008. Data[#] 3 Limited [ASX: DTL], a national information and communications technology (ICT) company, today announced another best ever result for the company with a record net profit after tax of $9.1 million for the year ended 30 June 2008, a 26% increase over the 2007 financial year.

Data[#] 3 recorded a 28% increase in total revenue to $363.7 million, and earnings per share increased 27% to 58.5 cents.

The Board has declared a final dividend of 28.0 cents per share to bring total dividends for the year to 46.0 cents per share, an increase of 28% over the previous year. The dividend will be paid on 30 September to all shareholders registered on 16 September.

Chairman Richard Anderson commented “Our strategy for organic growth was once again well executed by the management team. At the highest level, our offerings continued to position us competitively. In addition, opportunities for accelerated growth through partnerships, joint ventures and acquisition were taken with the recruitment of 48 people ex Commander in February and the acquisition of Fingerprint Consulting Services both contributing to profit in the second half,” he said.

Highlights

• Revenues of $363.7 million – up 28%

• EBIT of $12.1 million – up 22%

• NPAT of $9.1 million - up 26%

• Basic earnings per share of 58.5 cents - up 27%

• Full year fully franked dividends of 46.0 cents per share - up 28%

• Strong net operating cash inflows and no debt

• Contract revenues increased to 57% of total revenue

• Gross margin in $ terms increased by 24% with most significant growth in the specialist Licensing Solutions area

• Internal staff costs and operating expenses as a percentage of gross margin remained essentially unchanged at 83%

• Improvement in the key measures of staff and customer satisfaction

• Growth in all geographic regions

• Further acknowledgement of our industry leading expertise with various awards from the world’s leading ICT suppliers including Microsoft, IBM, HP and Sophos, and being voted by our peers as Australian Reseller of the Year in the Australian Reseller News awards.

Managing Director John Grant stated “2008 was a year of accelerated growth for Data[#] 3 – one which saw us open new offices in Perth and Adelaide, substantially increase our scale in Melbourne and Sydney and open a new best in class integration centre in Queensland. Our team strengthened by 110 new people in the year to 460 and we have worked very hard to ensure they settled in quickly and got into a position to contribute.”

We see 2009 as being a difficult market but believe we are as well positioned as we can be to find success and are targeting to improve on the performance of 2008.”
