Charter Hall Group (ASX:CHC) today announced that David Clarke will join the Board of Charter Hall Limited and Charter Hall Funds Management Limited as a non-executive independent director, effective immediately.

Mr Clarke has over 25 years’ experience in investment banking, funds management, property finance and retail banking. Mr Clarke was Chief Executive Officer of Investec Bank (Australia) Limited from June 2009 to July 2013, where he held responsibility for Investec’s Australian activities, including setting the strategic agenda, driving growth and profitability and the ongoing leadership of the business. He was also a member of the Global Operating Forum for the Investec Group (Investec Plc and Investec Ltd) and a Director of a number of Investec operating companies.

Prior to joining Investec Bank, Mr Clarke was the CEO of Allco Finance Group and a Director of AMP Limited, following five years at Westpac Banking Corporation where he held a number of senior roles including Chief Executive of the Wealth Management Business, BT Financial Group. Mr Clarke also was previously an Executive Director at Lend Lease Corporation Limited, and Chief Executive of MLC Limited, and prior to this was Chief Executive of Lloyds Merchant Bank in London.

Mr Clarke is Chairman of both the University of New South Wales Medicine Advisory Council and Deans Circle; and is a member of the ABCN (Australian Business Community Network) Scholarship Foundation. He is a member of the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Beachheads Forum and a non executive director of Austbrokers Holdings Limited.

Charter Hall Chairman, Mr Kerry Roxburgh welcomed Mr Clarke to the Board. “It’s my pleasure to welcome David to the Board. David’s extensive experience in funds management and property banking expertise, combined with his expertise in business strategy will complement and build on the existing skills on our Board. We welcome David as a Board member in the Charter Hall team”.

Mr Clarke will stand for re-election to the Board at the next General Meeting.
