CHARTER HALL APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR

Charter Hall Group (ASX: CHC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter Kahan as a NonExecutive Director to the CHC Board.
The appointment follows CHC’s $76 million capital raising in June 2009 which resulted in The Gandel Group holding a 12.2% stake in CHC as well as commitments to investments in CHC’s managed funds. This appointment follows a commitment made to invite Gandel Group to nominate one Board member following completion of its Charter Hall investment programme.
The Gandel Group is a diversified investment group and property owner. Its key investments include 17% ownership of the listed CFS Retail Property Trust (ASX code: CFX) and 50% ownership of Chadstone and Northlands shopping centres in Victoria.
Peter Kahan is the CEO of The Gandel Group and has over 15 years of property and funds management experience. He joined The Gandel Group in 1994 and became the Group’s Finance Director in 2001, prior to his appointment as the Group’s CEO in 2007.
Prior to joining The Gandel Group, Peter worked as a Chartered Accountant and has held senior financial roles in various industry sectors. From 2002 to 2006, Peter was a director of Gandel Retail Management Pty Ltd and Colonial First State Property Retail Pty Ltd, a leading property and fund manager managing a portfolio of approximately $8 billion of retail assets in Australia.
Peter is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of The Witwatersrand Johannesburg, South Africa.

Commenting on the appointment, Kerry Roxburgh, Chairman of CHC said, “On behalf of the CHC Board I welcome Peter to the Board.
