Appointment of BioPharmica CEO

BioPharmica Limited is pleased to announce that Dr Peter King has been appointed Chief Executive Officer.

Biopharmica is an ASX listed investment company, funding and managing the commercialisation of a range of biotechnology and biomedical research in Australian Universities and Medical Institutions. This is conducted either through joint ventures or through the establishment of spinout companies.

Peter was raised and educated in the UK, gaining a B.Sc in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol in 1980. He completed a Ph.D in Physical Biochemistry at the same institution in 1984. Peter subsequently joined the scientific instrumentation industry where he developed in-depth skills across multiple R&D disciplines including opto-mechanics, electronics and software engineering. As R&D manager at Applied Photophysics Ltd he led a highly qualified engineering team developing a series of innovative spectroscopic instruments now used in research chemistry and biochemistry laboratories worldwide. During this time Peter gained extensive experience in business development and general management, and in particular the analysis of commercial opportunities through collaboration with academic and industrial research institutions. In 2000 was appointed Technical Director.

In 2007 Peter moved with his family to Perth. He joined BioPharmica as Technical Development Manager in October 2007 and was appointed CEO in June 2008.

Mr David Breeze continues in his positions of Chairman and Managing Director on the Board of Directors.
