Significant growth opportunities in West Africa
West Africa is emerging as one of the strongest growth areas in the world for gold production. Gold and copper exploration and mining company, Golden Rim Resources (ASX: GMR) is capitalising on this opportunity by establishing an expanding foothold in the region (presently covering 3,362 km[2] in granted licences and 1,500km[2] under application). The Company has three project areas in Mali and five in Burkina Faso.
Unique to junior explorers, GMR has a cornerstone investor - the Royal Group - a major Abu Dhabibased investment and business house. The Royal Group is GMR’s largest shareholder (13.10%) and the two companies have formed a strategic alliance company, Royal Falcon Mining LLC (Royal Falcon). Royal Falcon actively seeks to expand its participation in significant minerals projects internationally. Through the alliance, the companies have secured advanced gold and copper projects in Sweden.
GMR is well placed to accelerate exploration, deliver increased resources and fund prospective project acquisitions during 2011, particularly in West Africa. Over 30,000m of drilling is planned for the 2011 field season.

Royal Group Alliance
In July 2008, GMR entered into an alliance with PAL Technology Services LLC, a member of the Royal Group conglomerate based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The alliance partners have incorporated a purpose specific company, Royal Falcon (GMR 35% and Royal Group 65%), to acquire, explore and develop major mineral projects and undertake operations for the alliance partners. GMR manages Royal Falcon and continues to search for quality and significantly sized projects.

Corporate Activity
GMR’s exploration activities received a funding boost with the successful renounceable rights issue that closed in November 2010. Approximately 90% of shareholders took up the two part capital raising, which included a placement. The total amount raised was $11.1M (before issue costs), which is primarily being used for drilling and other exploration expenditure in West Africa.

New Copper-Gold-Zinc Targets in Sweden
GMR recently announced that a number of significant gravity targets were identified directly along strike from the Falun Mine in Sweden. A gravity survey over the 8km of mine host rocks within the Falun 100 permit was highly successful and presented exciting opportunities for near-mine exploration during the next phase of the Bergslagen JV.
It was anticipated that ground gravity would be able to discern potential ore bodies within the host sequence at Falun due to the successful application of gravity elsewhere in the world.
The results show a distinctive residual gravity trend running westward from the Falun Mine that appears to link up with the Skyttgruvan deposit. There are multiple areas of residual gravity anomalies that show varying levels of interest, including an area to the SE of the mine, which shows great potential.
About the Falun Mine
The town of Falun is located in the Bergslagen district of central Sweden (200km NE of Stockholm) and is host to one of the world’s oldest and largest base and precious metal mines – its namesake, Falun. The Falun mine, based on a world-class ore system, was mined for over a millennium (~700–1992) and was the largest supplier of copper in the world (representing 70%) during the 17th and 18th centuries. Records indicate that 35Mt of high-grade ore were mined containing on average 1-3% copper, 2-6% zinc and 1-7g/t gold. A recent compilation of historical drilling data suggests considerable volumes of high-grade gold and copper mineralisation remains at Falun, particularly to the east and west of the massive sulphide ore body.
