Renovating dam for Statkraft
AF Gruppen (AFG) has entered into a contract with Statkraft to renovate Nesjø dam in Tydal municipality. The renovation is to secure the utilisation of waterfall energy to produce renewable, electrical energy in nearby hydropower plants.
The Nesjø lake is the intake basin for Vessingfoss power plant and flows into Vessingsjø lake. Vessingsjø in turn is the intake basin for the Nea power plant. The power plants produce electrical energy by utilising the water pressure from the dam.
Renovation is taking place in order for the dam to meet the requirements of the dam safety regulations. Work will comprise building a new discharge tunnel, operation of a quarry and other work in the upstream dam slope.
The contract is valued at approx. NOK 235 million excluding VAT, and work will proceed from 2022 and until the autumn of 2025.
“Hydropower developments are one AF Gruppen’s focus areas, and the company has taken part in many hydropower projects in Norway. We’re looking forward to continued cooperation with Statkraft Energi and starting the renovation of the Nesjø dam,” says Geir Flåta, EVP with AF Gruppen.
