Building on historical site in Gothenburg
AF Gruppen has been commissioned to build an apartment building with 139 condominium apartments in the Majorna neighbourhood of Gothenburg. The contract is worth a total of approximately SEK 200 million excluding VAT.
The Glassworks Project is being built as a cohesive block in the area where the old Fixfabriken site was located, representing Swedish industrial history and a long-term landmark in Gothenburg.
The project will consist of apartments ranging from 35 to 173 square metres, suited for many different types of households. In order to enhance the industrial character, the buildings will be fitted with unusually large windows set straight into a classic brick façade.
The height of the development will vary between four and fifteen storeys, offering views of the Göta river and the rooftops of Majorna. All apartments will offer at least one balcony or outdoor area, while the majority offer two.
The client is Fastighets AB Balder, who are now carrying out their second major project in the Fixfabriken area.
‘We look forward to developing an historical site and building a beautiful neighbourhood that compliments the existing buildings,’ says Bård Frydenlund, EVP for AF Gruppen in Sweden.
The assignment on behalf of AF Gruppen is a turnkey contract and construction is scheduled to commence in autumn 2020. The development will be available to move into from spring 2023. The project is certified according to Environmental Building Silver 3.0.
