Nominated for construction of the new Viking Age Museum
Statsbygg has nominated AF Gruppen for the turnkey contract with interaction for the new Viking Age Museum at Bygdøy in Oslo. The value of the contract is NOK 874 million, excluding VAT and including options.
The contract comprises a new building 9,300 square metres in size directly linked to the existing Viking Ship Museum at Bygdøy in Oslo. The client is the Ministry of Education and Research. The new museum will feature public-oriented collection of objects from the Viking Ship Museum and the Museum of Cultural History, as well as functions for research and conservation. The building will have rigorous functional requirements to secure the objects and requirements to high durability and a long lifetime for the structure.
Interaction phase 1 starts in April 2021 and will continue for 12 months. Thereafter interaction phase 2 (execution) will continue for 30 months with completion expected for the autumn of 2024.

The project has exacting requirements to experience from interaction projects with difficult ground conditions, extensive concrete works, spectacular architecture, and rigorous environmental, indoor climate and security requirements.
