Carrying out the earthworks for the expansion of a paper mill in Mariestad

Kanonaden Entreprenad, a subsidiary of AF Gruppen, will carry out the earthworks for Metsä Tissue’s expansion of the paper mill in Mariestad. The contract is worth approximately SEK 300 million, excluding VAT.

Kanonaden Entreprenad will carry out the earthworks as a construction contract. The earthwork also includes unloading and crushing of rock, which will be reused elsewhere in the project.

The client is Skeppsviken Bygg in Skövde, main contractor for the first step of the civil works execution. The expansion of the mill in Mariestad will double the annual capacity for tissue paper production from the current 75,000 tonnes to 145,000 tonnes.

The earthworks will start in Q1 2023, and the site is expected to be operational in the second half of 2025.
