Grassobbio (Bergamo), 29th November 2022 – Tesmec S.p.A. (MTA, STAR: TES) ("Tesmec" or the "Company"), at the head of a group leader in the market of technologies for infrastructures (overhead, underground and railway networks) related to the transport of energy, data and materials (oil and derivatives, gas and water), and of technologies in surface mining, announces that its subsidiary Tesmec Rail S.r.l. provisional awarded two lots in the tender of RFI - Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, a company of the Group Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane responsible for the overall management of the national railway network - for the supply of 44 railway vehicles with full maintenance service for a total value of c.a. euro 109 million.
In detail, Tesmec Rail S.r.l. was the only economic operator in the negotiated tender of RFI - Rete Ferroviaria Italiana - for the supply of 44 railway vehicles with full maintenance service.
It has been announced by the Commission during a restrictive meeting held at the Purchasing Department of RFI in Rome.
The supply, which has to be completed within 8 years, is inclusive of a full maintenance service (FMS) for a period of six years, and it's divided as follow:
The contracting authority will have the right to renew the Full Maintenance Service for a further period of 6 years, under the same contract conditions.
This result embodies an excellence from the environmental sustainability point of view: it's a fleet of railway vehicles with electric transmission equipped with a bimodal propulsion system; this means that the vehicles can be powered both from the contact line at 3 kV DC (Lot 1) or at 25 kV AC (Lot 2) and from a diesel enginegenerator.
Tesmec Rail will manufacture 44 railway maintenance vehicles designed in compliance with the highest safety Standards in force in the European Union (according to the Standard EN14033 and the Regulation of the 4th EU Railway Package 2018/545).

The railway vehicles will be equipped with onboard systems ERTMS/ETCS-Level 2 and STM SSC/SCMT BL3 for interoperability in Europe. The added value is represented by their AMIS/AISM certification that allow them to travel as a passenger train on the whole national railway network.
The Chairman and CEO Ambrogio Caccia Dominioni commented as follows: "We are very satisfied because it's an additional evidence of our product development strategy in the railway sector. We are confident that it allows us to strengthen our reference for sustainable solutions, a segment where we are expecting a considerable growth generated by the huge investments according to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan to encourage the development of sustainable railway infrastructures."
