A.S. Création Tapeten AG, Europe’s leading wallpaper manufacturer, already
reported in its interim report on the nine-month-period ended September 30,
2008 that sales in the third quarter of 2008 were not sufficient to absorb
the company’s output and that no improvement was in sight for the fourth
quarter of 2008. The company consequently reduced its output already during
the second half of 2008. In addition, the four-shift-operation introduced
in parts of the manufacturing operations on June 1, 2008 was abandoned
effective December 31, 2008.

Incoming orders have diminished appreciably in recent weeks. January orders
received to date are approximately 20 percent down on the year. This
decline exclusively results from business trends in the export markets and
contrasts with the situation in Germany where A.S. Création’s orders are
currently up on the previous year.

Given the unexpected scope of the downtrend in orders received in the
current month, the output reduction measures taken so far are deemed
inadequate. Today, the Managing Board and the Works Council of A.S.
Création Tapeten AG therefore signed an internal agreement on the
introduction of short-hour shifts at the Wiehl-Bomig and
Gummersbach-Derschlag factories effective February 1, 2009. Short-hour
working will also be introduced in certain administrative areas.

The Managing Board of A.S. Création Tapeten AG is currently not in a
position to issue a dependable forecast on the duration of this measure and
its implications for the sales and profit situation in the year 2009. As in
previous periods, a forecast on the current financial year will be provided
along with the publication of the Group’s annual report. This publication
is scheduled for March 12, 2009.
