MT Højgaard to build a school and a multi-purpose hall in Norway

The approx. DKK 300 million project is scheduled for completion by the start of the school year 2015

Undervisningsbygg Oslo KF has today announced that MT Højgaard has been awarded the design-build contract for a new school and associated multi-purpose hall on Teglværksgrunden in north-east Oslo.

The project has a value of approx. DKK 300 million and comprises construction of a new school and multi-purpose hall, for around 800 pupils from 1st to 10th form. The school will have five floors – four for teaching and administration, and one for technical facilities. The school will be equipped with moveable partition walls to allow easy merging and division of the classrooms. The multi-purpose hall will have two floors with technical facilities on the roof. The total building area is 11,500 m2 . The project also includes the establishment of 15,300 m2 of outdoor areas comprising a playground, playing fields and green areas.

The project is part of a large-scale urban development plan for the area, which also includes the construction of 5,000 – 7,000 new residential homes, and the expansion of both the social and physical infrastructure.

  • We are proud to have been chosen in competition with a number of other bidders, and look forward to working with Undervisningsbygg on this exciting project, says Karen Cecilie B. Møller, general manager for MT Højgaard's office in Norway.

The contract for the project is expected to be signed shortly after completion of the usual tender activities. The agreement is expected to have a positive effect on MT Højgaard's revenue and earnings during the construction period, but does not give rise to any change in the previously announced financial expectations for 2013.
