Electrocomponents appoints new Non-Executive Director

Electrocomponents plc, the global distributor for engineers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bertrand Bodson as Non-Executive Director of the Company.  His appointment will become effective as of 1 June 2015.

Bertrand is currently Chief Digital Officer and member of the Group Executive Board at the Home Retail Group, the owner of Argos, Homebase and Habitat. Previously, he worked in a number of senior eCommerce roles including leading global digital and marketing responsibilities at EMI Music and at Amazon, both in the US and Europe, where amongst others he led the launch of its DVD rental business in the UK and Germany. 

Peter Johnson commented: "We are all delighted that Bertrand will be joining the Electrocomponents Board.  His global digital business experience will help strengthen the Board's range of experience and help drive the Group's medium term target of transacting 70% of our business on-line."

Bertrand Bodson - career summary

Mr Bodson has been Chief Digital Officer at Home Retail Group Plc (since 2013), having held a number of senior eCommerce positions at EMI Music (2010-2013) and Amazon (2003-2006). Mr Bodson was also Chief Executive Officer at Bragster, which is now part of Guinness World Records (2006-2010).  Mr Bodson holds a MBA in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Masters of Commercial Engineering from Solvay Business School/McGill University, Belgium and is based in London.
