About this index

The MOEX Russia Index is a ruble-denominated composite index created by the Moscow Exchange (MOEX) that tracks the performance of the 50 largest and most liquid stocks in Russia . The index was launched on September 22, 1997, with a base value of 100 points, and it is calculated and published in real time during the exchange's trading hours. The MOEX Russia Index is often seen as a key benchmark for the Russian equity market and is widely used by investors as a tool for measuring performance and making investment decisions. In addition to the MOEX Russia Index, the Moscow Exchange also publishes the RTS Index, which tracks the performance of the 50 most liquid Russian stocks traded on the RTS exchange. The MOEX Russia Index has undergone various changes and updates over the years, including adjustments to the composition of its constituent stocks, revisions to its methodology, and the introduction of new versions of the index.
