ASX/MEDIA RELEASE 27 JUNE 2011
NEW SEISMIC DATA CONFIRMS EXISTING LEADS AND IDENTIFIES NEW PROSPECTS AND LEADS
Highlights:
-
Provision of the final processed seismic ahead of schedule, to be received ahead of schedule in July 2011
-
Existing leads and identification of new prospects and leads confirms seismic data shows significantly improved data quality over legacy data
-
Farm-out program continues in earnest with strong interest shown by major oil and gas organisations
WHL Energy Limited ( ASX: WHN ) (“ WHL Energy ” or “ the Company ”) is pleased to announce that it will receive the final processed 2D seismic package from its recently completed Seychelles seismic program in late July 2011, several months ahead of schedule. The delivery of the final 2D product will advance the identification of farm-in partner(s) for WHL Energy’s prospective Seychelles acreage.
WHL Energy has reviewed the preliminary processed data of the newly acquired SEY10 seismic data and is pleased to report that it offers significant improvement in data quality over previous vintage data acquired in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The new data has a higher signal to noise ratio than previous data, improved resolution and much better interpretability.
Previously identified leads are confirmed on the new data and interpretation of the preliminary processed data will commence immediately to accelerate WHL Energy’s exploration program in the Seychelles.
The final processed data to be received in late July is expected to provide an even further enhancement in data quality.
Advancement of the delivery of the final processed seismic data has enabled WHL Energy to bring forward the formal farm-out process. WHL Energy is presently in discussions with a number of potential farm-in partners and has advised them of the advancement of the final processed 2D
seismic delivery. With the final seismic and WHL Energy’s interpretation, it is anticipated the Company will open up the farm-out process to a wider number of potential farm-in partners.
Commenting on the excellent progress in relation to the seismic data, Managing Director Steven Noske stated: “We consider the final 2D seismic as being critical to bring to shareholders the greatest value for our Seychelles acreage. It is pleasing to see the improved data quality in the preliminary processed data allowing the Company to commence the exciting phase of interpretation of the new data in the Seychelles early, prior to receipt of the final processed data. WHL Energy is confident that the new data will firm up a variety of prospects from which a drilling program can be selected.
The improved data quality should further enhance the Company’s ability to farm-out the acreage for significant value. We continue to receive an extremely encouraging level of unsolicited interest in the acreage from several major oil and gas companies. The advancement of the interpretation based on the final processed data will enable the Company to conduct a wider farm-out than previously planned, greatly enhancing the potential to gain the best commercial outcome for our shareholders.”
