ASX/MEDIA RELEASE DECEMBER 20, 2010

WHL ENERGY PROVIDES WINGS LAW WIND FARM UPDATE

Australian energy company WHL Energy Limited ( ASX: WHN ) (“ WHL Energy” or ”the Company”) is pleased to provide an update on its proposed Wings Law wind farm development in the UK.

WHL Energy announces it has decided to withdraw its current appeal for a planning consent for the Wings Law wind farm. After much deliberation, the Company has taken this decision as it is unable to obtain an adjournment to deal with aviation radar issues and to address concerns raised by aviation parties. The appeal was to be heard at a Public Inquiry on 11[th] January 2011; this will now not take place.

The Company would also like to report that it has been approached by a private company which has offered to under-write any expenses attributable to the Wings Law wind farm application, subject to the WHL Energy submitting a new application in February 2011.

WHL Energy is now planning to re-submit a fresh appeal application as early as possible following further legal and other advice. In addition, recent legislative changes have presented the Company with two alternative approaches to the new application that will require further consideration in light of the time required to resolve the aviation radar issue.

The Wings Law wind farm proposal is part of WHL Energy’s Ladymoor Renewable Energy Project in Scotland, which would contain the UK’s first grid connected, commercially-sized hydrogen balancing facility, with WHL Energy holding the exclusive patent on this technology in the UK.

WHL Energy’s Chief Executive Office, Mr David Rowbottam stated “WHL Energy remains confident that the significant work it has undertaken to date, along with the potential support of a new financial partner, will result in the increased likelihood of a successful hearing.”
