KENTUCKY SHALE GAS RESERVES REPORT
The Company is pleased to provide an update on an independent reserves report completed on its Kentucky shale gas project in Eastern Kentucky where it holds a 50% interest in the venture.
Confirmation is as follows
-
Gas In Place-726Bcf (Net to WHL 363 bcf)
-
Contingent Resource- 167Bcf (net to WHL 83.5 bcf)
-
Present value @10$ DCF -$355 million USD
Please find report attached.
The Kentucky Property was acquired by the Corporation on July 23, 2008 and included nine existing wells on the 22,000 acres of leased land with ready access to market via existing pipeline infrastructure.
The recent workover and completion program has proven that there is sustainable natural gas potential across the Kentucky Property, confirming that there is low-risk drilling opportunity for the Devonian Shale target. As there are more than 200 potential drilling locations adjacent to the existing infrastructure, the Kentucky Property provides an excellent candidate for a low-cost, multi-well drilling program designed to generate cash early in the project development and increase the net present value of the reserves on the property.
Additional capital will be used as natural gas markets firm up to drill, complete additional wells while picking up additional lands with concurrent oil production which today is quite low ($5-$7/acre).
Yours Faithfully,
Ian Mitchell Company Secretary WHL Energy Limited
