Laconia appoints Vincent Algar as Director
Perth based exploration company Laconia Resources Limited (ASX: LCR) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Vincent Algar to the Board as a Non-executive Director.
Mr Algar was the founding Managing Director of ASX-listed manganese exploration and development company Shaw River Manganese (ASX: SRR), formerly Shaw River Resources. Mr Algar is a geologist by profession with over 20 years experience in the mining industry spanning underground and open cut mining operations, greenfields exploration, project development and mining services in Western Australia and Southern Africa.
He has significant experience in the management of publicly listed companies, which includes the entire compliance, marketing and management process and encompasses the development of internal geological and administrative systems, exploration planning and execution, plus project acquisition and deal completion. As managing director of Shaw River (December 2006 - March 2012) he was responsible for successful capital raisings, which raised more than $40 million for the Company’s exploration and acquisition programs, and was also directly involved in the $20 million acquisition of a 75.5% stake in the Otjo Project in Namibia, in 2011.
Mr Algar’s career began in the Witwatersrand Gold Mining Industry in South Africa, where he worked for JCI (Johannesburg Consolidated Investment Company) as a geologist on various operating gold mines. He migrated to Australia in 1996 and worked as a resource consultant for RSG Resource Consultants and then McDonald Speijers in Perth, where gained extensive technical and resource estimation experience.
He has also previously worked for Surpac Mining Software Group (Now Gemcom), where he was Australian Divisional Manager and worked with a wide range of global mining companies.

About Laconia Resources
Laconia Resources is a Perth-based emerging precious and base metals exploration and development Company with a South American focus. The recently acquired Rasuhuilca gold-silver development project in Peru complements the Company’s existing portfolio of precious and base metal projects in Western Australia.
A Feasibility Study was completed at Rasuhuilca 2008 and Laconia aims to bring it into production as a high-grade, small-tonnage operation, and utilise the project’s revenues to unlock its exploration upside.
In Western Australia, the Company has a portfolio of advanced mineral projects in the Murchison and Pilbara regions, across 35 granted tenements covering an approximate 955km[2] . The company has determined JORC compliant resources at its projects at Lennons’ Find, (Cu-Ag-Pb-Zn-Au), at Mooletar (Fe) and most recently at Rasuhuilca in Peru (Au-Ag).
The Company is focused on targeted exploration of its project areas, and further definition and expansion of its Resource base at its advanced projects.
