Zen Technologies Secures ₹289 Crore MoD Order for Rapid Anti-Drone System Upgrades
Operational Experience and Evolving Threats Prove Buying Indian-Designed Defence Systems is a Strategic Necessity
Hyderabad, November 02, 2025: Zen Technologies has been awarded two major contracts from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, totalling to ₹289 crores (including GST) for the upgradation of its Anti-Drone Systems (‘ADS’). Slated for completion within a year, these projects showcase why India’s defence ecosystem must prioritize indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured (‘IDDM’) solutions over foreign imports.
Operational Feedback and Rapid Response: These upgrades directly address operational feedback from Op Sindoor and other frontline missions, where evolving drone threats have underscored the urgent need for systems that can be swiftly adapted at both hardware and software levels. Zen’s ADS, entirely designed and developed in-house, enabled immediate validation of new MoD requirements and rapid system enhancements capabilities, which foreignsourced products simply cannot provide.
Dual Threat: Hardware Compromise and Software Malware
Global incidents, such as the Pager attack and Stuxnet malware, confirm the urgent need for complete, indigenous command over every component from physical hardware to software including embedded code in India’s critical defence infrastructure.
Why IDDM is More Than Policy, it’s Survival: Component-level changes and rapid upgrades are structurally impossible with foreign COTS systems, which require vendor approval and often cannot be fundamentally altered. Relying on overseas suppliers also subjects India to unpredictable export controls, delays, and shifting priorities set by foreign governments. In contrast, IDDM procurement empowers the Indian armed forces to dictate changes and improvements at operational speed, closing the gap between emerging threats and deployed solutions.
Preparing for Next-Gen Threats: Drone technology and threats are rapidly evolving hostile actors employ swarms, advanced AI, and stealth capabilities. India’s security depends on continuous system modernization. With IDDM platforms like Zen’s ADS, India gains the agility to continually anticipate, adapt, and defend against tomorrow’s unknown threats.
Commenting on the development Mr. Ashok Atluri, Chairman and Managing Director, Zen
Technologies, said “Recent operations like Op Sindoor have made it clear the pace at which our defence systems evolve determines our ability to secure the nation. Imported systems evolve at a rate set by foreign vendors and their interests, not ours. Incidents like the pager malware operation highlight why control over every system component is vital. Buying Indian-designed, developed and manufactured products is not an option, it’s a requirement for survival as drone and cyber threats keep evolving. Zen Technologies is committed to ensuring India is always one step ahead.”
