ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE ELECTION OF STAFF REPRESENTATIVE SUPERVISORS

The eighth session of the supervisory committee of Chongqing Iron & Steel Company Limited (the “ Company ”) has expired recently. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Articles of Association, the supervisory committee shall consist of at least five (5) members, which shall comprise shareholders representative supervisors and staff representative supervisors. The staff representative supervisors shall account for no less than one third of the total members of the supervisory committee, and shall be democratically elected and dismissed by employees of the Company.

The Company convened the eighth joint meeting of the first session of staff congress on 12 August 2021, at which Mr. Zhou Yaping and Mr. Zhang Liquan were elected as the staff representative supervisors of the ninth session of the supervisory committee of the Company for a term of office of three years. The biographies of the staff representative supervisors are as follows:

Mr. Zhou Yaping, born in May 1963, is a policy advisor. He is currently the secretary of the party committee, the secretary of the disciplinary committee and the chairman of the labour union of the Company’s steel rolling mill. Mr. Zhou has successively served as the shift supervisor of the control room of the Company’s medium plate plant, the deputy head and chief steel rolling operator at the hot rolling workshop of the medium plate plant, the chief operator and secretary of the party branch of the hot rolling operation area for the medium plate production line of the heavy plate plant, the plant director, secretary of party committee, secretary of the disciplinary committee and chairman of the labour union of the heavy plate plant. Mr. Zhou was awarded the honor of National Labor Model in 2005 and was elected as a representative of the 17[th] CPC National Congress in May 2007. He was awarded the honor of “Heroes and Models with Outstanding Contribution” during the celebration of the 60[th] anniversary of the liberation of Chongqing and was elected as a representative of the 18[th] CPC National Congress in May 2012.

Mr. Zhang Liquan, born in August 1962, is a senior engineer. He is currently a senior officer of the administration department (party-mass work department) of the Company. Mr. Zhang has successively served as the deputy head of the iron works plant, head of the sintering plant, the officer of the production and direction center, as well as the senior vice president, a director and the assistant to the general manager of the Company. Mr. Zhang obtained a bachelor’s degree in nonferrous metallurgy from Kunming Institute of Technology in 1987 and a master’s degree in business administration from Chongqing University in 2004.

Save as disclosed above, the supervisors mentioned above have not held any directorship in public companies, the securities of which are listed on any securities market in Hong Kong or overseas, or taken up any position in any affiliated companies of the Company over the past three years, nor do they have any relationship with any other directors, senior management, substantial or controlling shareholders of the Company.

Save as disclosed above, as at the date of this announcement, the supervisors mentioned above did not have any interest in the shares of the Company within the meaning of Part XV of the Securities and Futures Ordinance. The corresponding service contracts will be entered into between the supervisors mentioned above and the Company.

The supervisors mentioned above do not receive remuneration for their supervisory duty, but receive remuneration according to their positions in the Company.

No other information relating to the appointment of the supervisors mentioned above is required to be disclosed pursuant to Rules 13.51(2) (h) to (v) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. Save as disclosed herein, there are no other matters that need to be brought to the attention of the shareholders of the Company.
