Brand Sales up 11 %, Group Sales up 12 %. Sales trend: Consolidated Group sales grew by 12 % in the first 3 month of the new financial year. 1.5.2001 – 31.7.2001 EUR 27.6 million; 1.5.2000 – 31.7.2000 EUR 24.7 million. In the same period brand sales increased by 11 %. Market trend: The sales trend in selected core and future markets revealed the following movement in the 1st quarter of 2001/02 compared with the 1st quarter of 2000/01: Recovery in the European core markets – Italy + 33 %, Switzerland + 21 %, Scandinavia + 21 %, Netherlands + 11 %, Germany + 11 %, France + 9 %. Sustained momentum in the new luxury markets – Far East + 21 %, USA + 17 %. Distribution trend: The launch of the Long Distance programme – the ideal tights and knee-highs for extended sitting – has been very successful. First orders for the travel & inflight business of Swissair, Lufthansa and Cathay Pacific. Wolford boutiques: Boutique sales increased from EUR 9.1 million to EUR 10.3 million compared with the same period last year. Sales increased by 13 %. Wolford-owned boutiques: The share of total sales rose from 20 % to 21 %. 1st quarter sales grew by 19 %. Prompt start with the Autumn/Winter 2001 collection: The measures commenced in the last financial year to improve delivery capacity have already taken effect in the 1st quarter.
