WiseTech Global confirms 50.01% majority stake in Softship AG
WiseTech Global Limited, a global leader in logistics technology, has completed its share purchases to achieve a majority shareholder stake of 50.01% in Softship AG, a leading provider of logistics software solutions to the global sea-freight industry.
WiseTech Global has been a shareholder in Softship AG since 2014 and has confidence in the company and management. WiseTech Global reconfirms its previous statement to the market that it has not entered into any agreement with respect to the full acquisition of Softship AG.
WiseTech Global CEO, Richard White, said “We intend to work collaboratively with management to develop the business and its products and deliver even better solutions for its customers in the future”.
“In our view, Softship has a strong brand with talented and knowledgeable people. However, we note that traditional software businesses are going through a seismic shift and whilst Softship have shown significant vision with development of the cloud based SAPAS port husbandry product, there remains a continued need for significant levels of product investment for a sustained period of time to drive long term growth.”
“As a long horizon shareholder, we believe that growth and product excellence should be the driving factors on which a transitioning software company should focus and we would therefore not support the payment of dividends for the foreseeable future.”
