windeln.de completes acquisition of Spanish online shop “bebitus”
Munich, October 7th, 2015. windeln.de AG, the leading online retailer for baby and toddler products in Europe, completes the acquisition of Bebitus Retail S.L. (“bebitus”), an online shop for baby and toddler products in Spain, Portugal and France. windeln.de signed the purchase agreement for bebitus on August 10 th , 2015. The completion of the transaction was subject to certain conditions that have since been completed.
Alexander Brand, management board member and co-founder of windeln.de stated, “With bebitus, we are expanding our online presence in Southern Europe. After the acquisition of feedo in Eastern Europe and the market entry into Italy, we are now active in ten European countries. bebitus is already the leading online shop for the needs of young families in Spain and Portugal, and has been increasing its expansion to France in the last few months.”
After closing of the transaction, bebitus – based in Barcelona – is a 100% subsidiary of windeln.de and will operate as a separate business unit. The brand name “bebitus” will be retained. The founder Guillem Sanz Marzà and shareholder Alexandra Viguera Andreu will continue to work as managing directors and will improve the ongoing success of the bebitus onlineshops in Spain, Portugal and France together with their teams. In 2014, bebitus achieved revenues of approximately 7m EUR; for 2015, the company expects a revenue growth of more than 100% to 15m EUR.
