Februar 2000 – Die Senator Film AG und die Produktionsgesellschaft Little Shark Entertainment von Sönke Wortmann, dem erfolgreichsten Regisseur deutscher Filme der 90er Jahre, haben einen First Look-Vertrag geschlossen. Damit sichert sich die Senator Film AG für die nächsten zwei Jahre den Zugriff auf sämtliche Kinoprojekte von Little Shark. Alle Stoffe, die Little Shark entwickelt oder entwickeln möchte, werden zuerst Senator Film angeboten. Dabei kann Senator entscheiden, ob sie die Filme vertreiben oder auch koproduzieren möchte. In der Entwicklung befinden sich mehrere Projekte, darunter ein Film über die Fußball-WM ’54, die die deutsche Nationalmannschaft in einem dramatischen Finale gewann. Sönke Wortmann wird bei “Das Wunder von Bern” selbst Regie führen. “Das ist seit Jahren mein Wunschprojekt”, erklärt Wortmann, “und ich bin froh, dass es mit Hilfe von Senator Film nun endlich realisiert werden kann”. Für die Recherche und Drehbuchentwicklung sicherte der Deutsche Fußball Bund (DFB), der gerade sein 100jähriges Jubiläum feierte, seine Unterstützung zu. Wortmann feierte große Erfolge mit Filmen wie “Der bewegte Mann” (6,5 Mio. Besucher), “Das Superweib” (2,3 Mio. Besucher), “Allein unter Frauen” (1,1 Mio. Besucher) und “Kleine Haie” (0,6 Mio. Besucher). Für seine Filme erhielt er zahlreiche Auszeichnungen vom Bambi bis zum Deutschen und Bayerischen Filmpreis. This ensures Senator Film AG access to all of Little Shark’s motion picture projects for the next two years. All the materials Little Shark develops, or would like to place in production, will be offered to Senator first. This allows Senator Film to decide if it wants to market or even co-produce the movies. Numerous projects are already in the works including a movie about the German national soccer team winning the 1954 World Cup Soccer Championship. “For years this has been my dream project”, Wortmann explains, “and I’m delighted that it will finally be able to be made with the help of Senator Film”. The German Soccer Association (DFB), currently celebrating its 100th anniversary, has promised to support research and development of the script for “Miracle in Bern” (Das Wunder von Bern). Wortmann has had tremendous successes with motion pictures such as “Maybe, Maybe Not” (6.5 million Admissions), “The Super Wife” (2.3 million Admissions), “Alone Among Women” (1.1 million Admissions) and “Little Sharks” (0.6 million Admissions).
