August 2000 – Die Senator Entertainment AG (WKN 722 440) gründet mit Mark Canton eine Produktionsgesellschaft mit Sitz in Los Angeles, USA. Canton, ehemals Chairman der Columbia-TriStar, ist eine der führenden Persönlichkeiten der Entertainment-Industrie in Hollywood. Gemeinsam werden Senator und Canton Filmprojekte für den internationalen Markt entwickeln und produzieren. Die Produktionsbudgets der 3 bis 5 Filmproduktionen pro Jahr werden bei durchschnittlich 50 Mio. US$ pro Film liegen. Canton wird exklusiv Kinospielfilme für die neugegründete Filmgesellschaft produzieren, an der Senator mit 51% beteiligt ist. Senator und Canton werden gemeinsam mit Warner Brothers diejenigen Filme “greenlighten”, die Warner Brothers kofinanzieren und weltweit vertreiben wird. Senator hält die Vertriebsrechte für den deutschsprachigen Raum, Osteuropa und von Fall zu Fall andere ausgewählte Territorien. Außerdem ist Senator – durch die 51%ige Beteiligung an dem Joint- Venture – an den weltweiten Erlösen maßgeblich beteiligt. Mark Canton war in den 80er Jahren Vice President of Production bei Wamer Brothers bevor er zum President of Worldwide Theatrical Production aufstieg. In den 90ern wurde er Chairman der Columbia-TriStar. In den mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten in der Entertainment- Industrie brachte Canton mehr als 300 Filmprojekte auf den Weg, darunter einige der kommerziell erfolgreichsten Filme aller Zeiten wie “Batman”, “Lethal Weapon”, “Air Force One”, “Die Hochzeit meines besten Freundes”, “Men in Black”, “Jerry Maguire” und “Besser geht’s nicht” um nur einige zu nennen. Canton, formerly the chairman of Columbia-TriStar, is one of the leading entertainment industry personalities in Hollywood. Together, Senator and Canton will develop and produce film projects for the international market. The production budgets for the 3 to 5 annual film productions will average US$ 50 million each. Canton will produce exclusively feature films for the newly founded film company in which Senator holds a 51% share. Along with Warner Brothers, Senator and Canton will greenlight those films that Warner Brothers will co- finance and distribute worldwide. Senator holds the distribution rights for the German-speaking territories, Eastern Europe and other selected areas on a case-by-case basis. Furthermore, thanks to its 51% share in the joint venture, Senator will hold a sizable interest in the worldwide revenues. Mark Canton was vice President of production at Warner Brothers in the 80’s before becoming President of Worldwide Theatrical Productions. In the 90’s he became chairman of Columbia-TriStar.
