Senator Entertainment AG english

Ad hoc announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Senator Boosts EBIT by Some 79 Percent Sales climb some 70 percent Quarterly Earnings increased by about 46 percent Berlin, May 30, 2001 The year 2001 debuted very successfully for Senator Entertainment thanks to extremely strong increases in sales and earnings compared to last year’s first quarter. Sales soared about 70 percent to EUR 23.5 million (prior year period: EUR 13.9 million). Making a major contribution were box office revenues of EUR 10.1 million (prior year period: EUR 4.1 million) stemming mainly from the highly successful Senator films “Chocolat”, “The Experiment” and “Now or Never, which opened in December 2000. Sales from licensing also rose sharply, increasing from EUR 2.1 million in first quarter 2000 to its current EUR 12.0 million, thanks to income from worldwide distribution. Film production revenues fell from EUR 7.7 million in first quarter 2000 to EUR 1.4 million in first quarter 2001, since Senator did market less in-house productions in this reporting period. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) went up by some 38 percent to EUR 10.5 million compared to EUR 7.6 million of the prior- year period. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were EUR 4.2 million after EUR 6.3 million in depreciation (prior year period: EUR 5.3 million), which is an increase of 79 percent over last year’s EUR 2.3 million. Senator Entertainment AG posted quarterly earnings of EUR 1.6 million following EUR 1.6 million in amortization of financial assets and taxes on income of EUR 0.8 million, which bettered the first quarter 2000 result of EUR 1.1 million by some 46 percent. Earnings per share were EUR 0.05 compared to EUR 0.03 for the same period last year. The quarterly report is available on the Internet at www.senator.de.
