Appointment of Non-Executive

JD Wetherspoon plc ("the Company") is pleased to announce that it intends to appoint Ben Thorne as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 17 December 2020, subject to election as a director on that date at the Company's annual general meeting ("AGM").  On appointment, he will also join the audit, remuneration and nomination committees of the board.

Ben Thorne qualified as a solicitor in 1985 specialising in corporate law. He subsequently moved into investment banking in 1987 and has over 30 years' experience advising corporates, including, whilst at Kleinwort Benson, JD Wetherspoon on a range of capital markets and corporate finance issues.  He has subsequently held senior advisory roles at GCA Altium and Panmure Gordon.  He is currently a Managing Director at WH Ireland.

The chairman of the Company, Tim Martin, said:

"Subject to the approval of shareholders at the AGM, I look forward to the appointment of Ben to the board in December and to his contribution going forward from then".

There are no further matters which require to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13.
