Voltalia's first solar project in Africa Voltalia wins a 25 MW project in Egypt

Voltalia (Euronext Paris, ISIN code: FR0011995588), an international player in renewable energies, announces today it has won a 25 MW solar project in Egypt.

The future 25 MW1 power plant, named Râ solar, will be located in the Ben Ban complex in the Assouan region (Upper-Egypt).

Officially announced on October 24th in Paris during the official visit of Egyptian president Abdel-Fatah al-Sissi, the project benefits from an intergovernmental statement signed by both countries' Ministers of Foreign Affairs, MM. Sameh Choukry and Jean-Yves Le Drian.

Voltalia's project is part of the national plan aiming at developing 4.3 GW of renewable capacity, including 2 GW of solar PV. Voltalia will thus contribute to the achievement of Egypt's national targets set under the 2015 Paris agreement.

year electricity sales contract with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company ("EETC"). The construction will start at the beginning of 2018 and the commissioning is expected in Q2 2019.

As for the financing of this project, Voltalia is working with Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency ("AFD"). Proparco is dedicated to the development of the private sector promoting sustainable economic, social and environmental development practices. Committed to investing in developing countries, it has a strong presence in Africa, particularly in Egypt where it has recently closed significant financing deals in the energy sector.
