The Manager Company Announcements Office ASX Ltd

Opcon Powerbox installations update

Perth-based clean power company Enerji Limited (ASX:ERJ) has progressed with installation of the Opcon Powerbox at the Carnarvon Power Station with testing of the earth grid now successfully completed.

Construction is continuing as planned this week after a hiatus to allow the earth grid time to settle. Upon testing, the earth grid easily exceeded specifications allowing construction to continue. The earth grid was not originally required in construction but became necessary when it could not be determined that the existing grid would adequately protect the section of the power station accommodating Enerji’s waste heat to power system.

The earth grid is critical in providing a safe working environment in an operating power station. Enerji and its customer have an uncompromising approach to safety on site.

The resultant short delay is due purely to construction and procedural matters, predominantly the earth grid installation and settling period. The technical aspects of the Opcon Powerbox and its heat recovery system are unchanged. The exact revised target date for completion at Carnarvon is being determined by Enerji in consultation with the Horizon project team and will be advised to the market in a future update. It is now expected in June.

Enerji continues to develop its pipeline of prospects for the Opcon Powerbox in the mining industry while also exploring project and equipment finance options.

The Opcon Powerbox has the capacity to produce more electrical power without burning additional fuel, while also potentially lowering CO2 emissions by up to 15%. Customer savings from the Opcon Powerbox have been estimated at up to $5.1m after five years and $34.7m after 20 years.

Enerji featured on ABC TV News

Enerji and the Opcon Powerbox were featured on the 7pm ABC TV News bulletin on 29 April 2012. The story by Kathryn Diss focused on the benefits of the Opcon Powerbox for mining companies and interviewed Enerji managing director Greg Pennefather and Poseidon Nickel CEO and managing director David Singleton. The item also includes footage of Enerji’s equipment installed at the power station.
