The Manager Company Announcements Office ASX Ltd

Media Release

Opcon Powerbox to Slash Mining Fuel Bills: Enerji

Perth-based clean power company Enerji Limited (ASX:ERJ) says some of Australia’s biggest mining companies could slash remote site power fuel expenditure by up to 12% using the company’s core Opcon Powerbox technology.

Company chairman Mr Ian Campbell spoke out after an international sustainability strategist noted that some of Australia’s biggest mining companies were spending more than $1 billion annually on fuel.

Mr Campbell said Enerji had undertaken market scoping studies which suggested fuel cost savings of up to 12% could be achieved by mining operators that employ the company’s waste heat to power system.

His comments follow the release of data by international expert Dr Martin Blake, who helped trim $44 million carbon based expenditure from Britain’s Royal Mail bill.

Dr Blake said he had one example of a remote Australian mining site with a staggering billiondollar annual diesel bill. He estimated this company was wasting around $100 million a year.

Mr Campbell said Enerji’s Opcon Powerbox product – which transforms waste heat into electricity and is suitable for remote mine sites and power stations – would ensure mining companies achieved initial annual savings of up to $770,000. He said $100,000 of this cost saving was the result of slashing fuel tax bills, which have increased by an estimated 6.5% under the carbon tax.

While the net output of a power station does not change using the Opcon Powerbox technology, the fossil fuel usage with the Opcon Powerbox can be reduced by up to 12%.

The first Opcon Powerbox is due to be installed at the West Australian Carnarvon Power Station within weeks, with commencement of further installations expected later this year.

The Company is in advanced negotiations with a number of potential customers to provide Waste Heat to Power Solutions (WHPS). The business development team at Enerji continues to engage with prospective customers resulting in an increasing number of proposals under consideration.
