Emerging green energy utility, Enerji Limited ( ASX: ERJ , ‘ Enerji’ or the “ Company ”) is pleased to provide the timeline for installation of its first Opcon Powerbox - which converts recovered heat energy to electricity - at Horizon Power’s Carnarvon power station in Western Australia.
Enerji Chief Executive Officer, Mr Greg Pennefather, visited Opcon’s manufacturing plant in Sweden earlier this month to view progress on the construction of the six Opcon Powerboxes which Enerji has on order. Photographs of the first two Opcon Powerboxes, taken in early May, are shown below.
Mr Pennefather said construction of two third generation Opcon Powerboxes was close to completion and work on a further two units was underway. Some of the parts for the 5[th] unit have arrived with assembly due to commence in the coming months.
“I was delighted to personally see the tremendous progress Opcon has made in the design and construction of our first Powerboxes. I have been informed that our first two units will be finalised in June. The first unit will then undergo testing in July prior to being shipped to Australia in August,” said Mr Pennefather.
“Transportation to Australia is estimated to take 6 to 8 weeks, with installation and commissioning at Carnarvon scheduled to occur between September and November – a timeframe specified by Horizon to ensure our works will not interfere with Carnarvon’s operations or power output. The installation itself is scheduled to take between six and nine weeks.”
“Our construction partner, Laing O'Rourke, has recently completed a project scoping study and is now conducting detailed equipment specifications work. Once they’ve completed this we’ll be in a position to order the other equipment required for Carnarvon. It’s a very exciting time for Enerji and its shareholders.”
Mr Pennefather noted Opcon’s reaffirmation of its ongoing commitment to Enerji and its focus on the development of the Australian market for Opcon Powerboxes.
“With our primary target market remaining remote mine sites and towns that generate their own power, Opcon appreciates the potentially huge marketing opportunity that exists in Australia. Additionally, I am pleased that Opcon has recently appointed a dedicated representative to provide further support for the Opcon Powerboxes here in Australia,” said Mr Pennefather.
