He succeeds Dr. Peter Strahammer, who died in a tragic accident on August 22. At the same meeting, Dr. Wolfgang Eder was selected as Deputy Chairman. Following graduation from the Vienna University of World Trade in 1967, Franz Struzl joined the former Alpine-Montan company in Donawitz. During the subsequent years he quickly assumed a number of management posts in the areas of finance and controlling within group companies in Styria. Together with Peter Strahammer, Franz Struzl was responsible for the successful restructuring of the Styrian Long Products Division. In 1993, Franz Struzl became the overall head of the Group Long Products Division and has been a member of the VOEST-ALPINE STAHL AG Managing Board since 1994. He was appointed Deputy Chairman in 1999. Franz Struzl is 59, is married and has two grown-up children. After graduating in law at the University of Salzburg, Dr. Wolfgang Eder joined the VOEST-ALPINE AG in 1978. Following various managerial posts in Investment Management and Corporate Law, in 1991 Dr. Eder became the General Secretary of VOEST-ALPINE STAHL AG. During 1995, Eder prepared what was to date, Austrias most successful going public. In September 1999 Eder succeeded Peter Strahammer as the Chairman of VOEST-ALPINE STAHL LINZ GmbH. Since July 2001, he has also headed the newly formed Automotive Division.
