VINCI Energies wins a contract to restructure, expand and manage four schools in Germany under a public private partnership

  • A 29-year public private partnership contract
  • A contract with a total value of €163.5 million

The City of Cologne has awarded a contract to restructure and expand four schools and manage them for a period of 29 years to VINCI Facilities SKE, the German subsidiary of VINCI Energies. The contract took effect on 1 January 2018.

The value of the PPP contract is €163.5 million. It covers renovation of a number of landmark buildings, construction of new buildings and facility management services: maintenance of the premises and outdoor spaces, security and energy consumption management.

The schools, which together accommodate 2,900 students and 230 teachers, are located in the Mülheim district (Elly Heuss Knapp Realschule and Ferdinand Lassalle Realschule) and in the Ossendorf (Catholic Elementary School) and Weiden (Georg Büchner Gymnasium) neighbourhoods of Cologne.

Of the nearly €2 billion total revenue generated by VINCI Energies in Germany, the facility management sector accounted for more than €300 million in 2017.

To date, VINCI Facilities SKE has carried out 15 projects under PPP contracts.

Germany is the VINCI Group's largest market outside France, with revenue of about €2.7 billion in 2016 and more than 13,000 employees working for the local VINCI Concessions, VINCI Energies and Eurovia subsidiaries.

In April 2017, VINCI notably finalised the financial structuring of an A-Modell public private partnership contract covering the restructuring of the A7 motorway.
