Verbund annual results 2006: New record results achieved

The Verbund Group was able to continue its ongoing positive business
development in 2006. Sales rose by 34.9 % to € 2,878.2 million, the
operating result increased by 53.0 % to € 806.5 million and the group
result was improved by 43.5 % to € 501.1 million. Moreover, the Verbund
control-specific group ratios also improved significantly in fiscal 2006.
The Economic Value Added (EVA) rose by 71.7 % to € 346.4 million. Net
gearing was reduced from 97.4 % to 74.1 % and the operating cash flow rose
by € 73.4 million to € 753.9 million.

The main factor contributing to the positive development of results was the
sales successes at home and abroad as well as the higher contract prices
achieved, which therefore more than made up for the adverse effects from
the below-average water supply and the balance-sheet related extraordinary
items.

Based on these excellent results, the Managing Board of the Verbund Group
shall propose a dividend increase of 50 % from € 0.5/share to € 0.75/share
to the General Meeting.
