Veidekke ASA: To build cultural centre in Bergsjön, Gothenburg for Higab
Veidekke has signed a collaborative design and build contract with Higab to
build a new cultural centre in Gothenburg's Bergsjön district. Construction work
is projected to start in Q2 2020. The contract is valued at approx. SEK 100
million.
The three-storey cultural centre will house a library, exhibition rooms, music
studio, black box, and study rooms for pottery, photography and textiles, as
well as space for movie screenings and a party venue for up to 150 people.
"We are both proud and pleased that Higab selected us to build this important
project. I am confident that our good relations and collaboration will
contribute to a successful project and provide added value for Bergsjön," says
Mattias Bylerius, regional manager at Veidekke Bygg Väst.
In 2013, following several years of debate, the Gothenburg city council resolved
to build a long-desired cultural centre in Bergsjön. The initiative is part of
"Program Bergsjön", which was developed by the Gothenburg building authorities
and focuses on social sustainability and integration.
