Veidekke ASA: To build school extension in Årsta by Stockholm for SISAB

Veidekke's subsidiary Arcona has been commissioned to renovate and extend

Skanskvarnsskolan in Årsta, just outside Stockholm, for The Stockholm School

Properties Company, SISAB. The project is an execution contract with a contract

sum of SEK 147 million. Work starts in June and is scheduled to be completed in

June 2022.

Skanskvarnsskolan is being expanded in order to meet current school building

requirements and to accommodate the student body that is expected in the

upcoming years. An existing building will be demolished and replaced by a new

school building with a gross area of 6,000 square meters, comprising a gym, an

institutional kitchen, a lunch room and premises for educational and leisure

activities. The contract also comprises renovation of the school yard and an

adjacent road with turning area. School and preschool activities will be ongoing

in other school buildings and in the school yard throughout the construction

period. The new building will be certified to the environmental standard

Miljöbyggnad SILVER.

"SISAB and the education administration are looking forward to realising our

plans for students and staff at Skanskvarnsskolen in collaboration with Arcona.

This is a good project, where everyone involved share a common responsibility

towards the children and the Stockholm municipality," says Helene Logren,

project manager, SISAB.

the education administration - now concerning Skanskvarnsskolan," says Ella

great modern premises for our children. As the school will be operational

throughout the construction period, high attention will be paid to logistics,

work environment, and third parties."

Arcona is also reconstructing the preschool "Framtidens förskola Blågull" in

Hässelby for SISAB. Last autumn, the company completed a major renovation of

Östra Real's upper secondary school in Stockholm.
