Veidekke ASA: To build the Fosslia Care Centre in Stjørdal

Veidekke ASA: To build the Fosslia Care Centre in Stjørdal

Veidekke has today signed a contract with Stjørdal Municipality to construct a

new care centre in Fosslia in Stjørdal. The centre will contain 76 residential

units as well as a service building with day centre, shop/kiosk and hair/foot

care lounge. The commission is a design and build contract with a value of just

over NOK 250 million, excluding VAT.

- This is a long-awaited project of great importance for the municipality's

inhabitants and for the care sector. We are proud that we won the competition

for the commission, being able to build such a modern and specially adapted

dementia village that will benefit both residents and employees is very

rewarding and motivating, says District Manager Ståle Brovold of Veidekke Bygg

in Trøndelag.

The new Fosslia Care Centre will be a specially adapted facility for people with

dementia and/or cognitive impairment. The project is an extension of the

existing facility with four new buildings totalling 7,900 m[2] organised in an

enclosed square style traditional to the Trøndelag region. The project aims to

achieve a significantly lower energy consumption than is required in the current

regulations, and a separate borehole thermal energy storage system will be the

main source of energy for the project.

All buildings at Fosslia are established in line with the care philosophy "Small

is good". In practice, this means small, clear groups of residents with short

distances for both residents and employees. A homely feel is planned, where

colours and materials are actively used to ensure easier orientation. This,

together with state-of-the-art welfare technology, will ensure a safe and good

living environment for the residents of Fosslia. Between the buildings beautiful

and welcoming sensory gardens will be established, where berry bushes, fruit

trees, flowers and raingardens border several pleasant recreation areas and

walking routes.

Construction will start in January with completion planned in autumn 2023. Read

more about the project on Stjørdal Municipality's

website. (https://www.stjordal.kommune.no/tjenester/om-kommunen/vare
