Veidekke ASA: Secures major hospital contract in Haugesund

Veidekke has won a commission to build Haugesund's new hospital building, and

signed the contract with Fonna Hospital Trust today. The design and build

contract is valued at approximately NOK 750 million excluding value added tax.

"We are extremely proud to have won this commission, and recognise the

importance of the new hospital building to very many people. The project will

require close, effective coordination between all involved parties, and will

place rigorous demands on us in our capacity as contractor. We are grateful to

Fonna Hospital Trust for their confidence in us, and look forward to getting

started with the collaboration phase and building work," says Hans Olav Sørlie,

Veidekke Executive Vice President, Building Construction Norway.

The new hospital building will house a combined accident and emergency

department for patients with physical and psychiatric illnesses, new operating

theatres, a maternity ward and a cutting-edge laboratory. An intensive care

unit, observation ward, cardiovascular unit and geriatric unit will also be

built. The 18.000+ m2building will be situated next to the existing hospital in

the centre of Haugesund.

district. Veidekke is not only a local contractor executing smaller and larger

projects in the district, but also a regional undertaking that can draw on

resources from other parts of the group when needed. It is therefore

particularly satisfying to win a large commission like this one in Haugesund. We

look forward to sharing our extensive hospital construction knowledge and

experience with our project partners," concludes Sørlie.

Veidekke and Fonna Health Trust will now work together to refine and finalise

the project plans. Construction kick-off is scheduled for the New Year, and

completion of the new building for the spring of 2021.
